Every Pool We Build Is Custom.

It's easy to assume a fibreglass pool means a generic result. That's not how Compass — or Local Pools & Spas — works. We start with 7 Compass pool ranges across 41 sizes, then customise your pool at the factory level so it arrives on site exactly as you designed it.

Add a spa or wader. Create a shallow beach zone for the kids. Build in a tiled Sunpod water feature. Specify a vanishing edge for the view. Choose your Bi-Luminite or Vivid colour, then finish it off with programmable LED lighting for evening entertaining.

Almost every option can be combined, and our Smeaton Grange team will help you design a pool that fits your backyard, your family and your budget — then install it end-to-end.

Option 1 · Pool & Spa

Add a Spa, or a Family Wader.

Adding a spa or wader is easily our most-installed customisation — especially across Sydney South, where families want a pool that works year-round. A spa extends pool season into winter with independent heating; a wader (a shallow 300–400mm area) is the family-friendly alternative — a safe, sun-warmed space for young kids and lounging adults. Both can be built separately from or connected to the main pool as one flowing design, colour-matched in your chosen Bi-Luminite or Vivid finish.

Option 2 · Beach & Bench

Shallow Beach Zones & Grand Entry Benches.

Beach zones and Grand Entry benches create shallow, sun-warmed areas — perfect for toddlers, teenagers with a laptop, or adults lounging with a drink. Unlike older methods that required a second mould, Compass now builds them directly into the pool shell at the factory. A rebate in the wall connects to a custom fibreglass beach or bench made to your exact design. Beach zones come in varying lengths; the Grand Entry Bench is 4.2m long and 1.4–4.0m wide.

Option 3 · Sunpod

Sunpod Water Features — Signature Sydney.

Sunpods are tiled raised platforms built along the edge of your pool, featuring inground bubblers that turn the surround into a living water feature. They've become our signature customisation in Sydney South — almost every second Vogue install these days includes one. Because they're tiled, Sunpods can be personalised with any colour or pattern, and they combine effortlessly with a spa or beach zone alongside.

Option 4 · Infinity Edge

Vanishing & Infinity Edges.

A vanishing edge creates the illusion of water flowing seamlessly into the landscape beyond. Thanks to Compass's Maxi Rib technology, it's now available in fibreglass at a fraction of the cost of the concrete alternative — and installs in a fraction of the time. Ideal for elevated sites with a valley view, a garden below, or any block where the horizon is the star. Below is our SPASA-award-winning Kangaroo Valley build.

Infinity edges suit elevated sites with a view. Not every block is right for one — we'll tell you honestly at your site inspection.

Option 5 · Pool Lighting

LED Lighting to Change the Mood.

Great pool lighting transforms your backyard after dark — extending your usable hours and creating a completely different atmosphere in the evenings. Lighting requires no alteration to the pool shell, making it one of the most affordable customisations and even something you can retrofit later. Multi-colour LED lights are controlled from an app on your phone; fixed white lights give a clean, consistent look. Can be added to the pool interior, the surrounding deck, or both.

How It Works

Factory-Built. Locally Installed.

Some builders add customisations on site — retrofitting spas, cutting into shells, patching beach zones. Compass builds every option into the shell at the factory before it leaves. We install it, end-to-end, right here in Sydney South.

Frequently Asked

Customisation Questions Sydney Families Ask

The questions we hear most often when customers are designing their custom pool. Ask us anything not covered here at your free showroom visit.

How much extra does a customisation cost?

It depends heavily on which customisation and which pool shape. A wader might add a few thousand dollars; a full spa combo, an infinity edge, or a large Sunpod can add substantially more. We'll walk through the exact numbers when we visit your site and prepare your fixed-price quote.

Can I add options after the pool is installed?

Some yes, most no. LED lighting can generally be retrofitted. Spas, waders, beach zones, Sunpods and infinity edges are all built into the shell at the factory — they can't be added later without a major rebuild. Better to design them in from the start.

Do customisations affect the warranty?

No. Every Compass customisation is built at the factory to the same standard as the pool shell itself, so it's covered by the same triple warranty — structural, cosmetic and hydrostatic. Nothing you customise voids anything.

What's the most popular customisation in Sydney?

Across Sydney South, pool + spa combos are the clear #1. Sunpods are a strong second (particularly on Vogue and Sanctuary installs), and beach zones have been growing every year with families — especially where kids under 10 are involved.

Can I combine multiple customisations?

Yes — most options combine beautifully. Sunpod + spa is very common. Beach zone + Vantage self-cleaning is another popular pairing. Some combinations need clever design (e.g. infinity edge + spa placement), which is why we do the design work at the showroom before the shell is ordered.

Do you install customisations from other builders?

Not typically. We build end-to-end — from the Compass shell arriving at Smeaton Grange through to final commissioning at your home. That way we own the quality of every step, and you have one point of contact for the whole project and the warranty.
